Man allegedly found 'hiding underwater' arrested after fatal shooting at Beenleigh, south of Brisbane

A 22-year-old man has been arrested over a fatal shooting in Logan, south of Brisbane, after he was allegedly found by police hiding underwater in wetlands.
Emergency services were called to Hugh Muntz Park in Beenleigh about 10:40pm on Tuesday following reports a man had been shot.
Detective Acting Superintendent Paul Fletcher said a 35-year-old man was found with a gunshot wound to his chest when police arrived.

He said the man was declared dead at the scene, despite efforts from officers to treat him.
Police allege a stolen white vehicle with stolen registration plates left the scene soon after the shooting and was spotted in Labrador on the Gold Coast at about 1:30am.
"After a short pursuit a successful tyre deflation device was acted on this vehicle, which made the vehicle stop in the Hope Island area," Detective Acting Superintendent Fletcher said.

Police allege the man fled on foot into nearby scrub, and was found by the dog squad "hiding underwater amongst the reeds near Saltwater Park".
Detective Acting Superintendent Fletcher said ammunition was allegedly found on the man when he was taken into custody, while a firearm was found discarded nearby.
"I would like to commend the police who acted bravely and swiftly to bring this matter under control in a very short space of time," he said.
He said the investigation was ongoing and police were working to establish whether the men were known to each other.
Police are appealing to the public for any information and any dash cam vision.
