American rock 'n' roll stars Foo Fighters are no strangers to Australia, visiting 14 times since their first trip out here for the Summersault Festival in 1995.
But they have never played in Launceston. In January, that changes.
Loading...Dave Grohl and his band have this morning confirmed that the band will be back on Australian soil in 2026 to play one show only at Launceston's York Park (aka UTAS Stadium) on January 24.
Word about the tour spread quickly on social media after a post from their touring promoter Frontier Touring hinted at a forthcoming announcement.
The now-confirmed show will mark the first time Foo Fighters have visited Tasmania since 2015, when they played Hobart's Derwent Entertainment Centre as part of the Sonic Highways world tour.

Their last Australian tour saw them pack out stadiums across the mainland through 2023.
Before that, the band executed another FIFO visit that saw them do just the one night at Geelong's Kardinia Park in March of 2022.
They also performed a one-off show at Brisbane's Riverstage in 2011 as a fundraiser for flood relief.
Foo Fighters have been a stadium-filling band for over a decade now, and Australian audiences love them more than just about anyone else does.
The band has sold over 1.8 million records in Australia, with nine of their albums going to number one on the album charts.
Brisbane rockers Full Flower Moon Band and local trio Spooky Eyes will support Foo Fighters on the night.
Tickets for the show go on sale Wednesday, December 10.
