In short:

Three former ABC employees have died after they were exposed to asbestos at the broadcaster's former offices in the Melbourne suburb of Elsternwick.

The deaths were confirmed at Senate estimates on Tuesday and related to exposure between the 1950s and the 1980s.

Executives also confirmed that 13 active ABC sites had been found to have asbestos in them, but that these were being professionally managed to ensure staff were not exposed.
