Less than 48 hours after completing their perfect season, the good news has kept coming for AFLW premiers North Melbourne.
Further underscoring the significant gap between the top few clubs and the rest of the league, the Kangaroos are poised to recruit number one draft pick Kristie-Lee Weston-Turner.
The Western Bulldogs confirmed on Monday that Weston-Turner had requested a trade to North, just two years after she was the top draft pick.
"Given her outstanding attributes as a young key position player, the list management team will work to ensure that any deal is in the club's best interests," the Bulldogs said in a statement.
Weston-Turner only managed one senior game this season as the Bulldogs finished 12th for the second straight year.
North won their second successive premiership on Saturday night, beating the Brisbane Lions again in the grand final.
That extended the Kangaroos' winning streak to 27 games, already a record across the AFLW and AFL.
Eilish Sheerin was best afield for North in the decider after joining the Kangaroos from Richmond.
Libby Birch also became the AFLW's first four-time premiership player after coming to North from Melbourne after the 2023 season.
The AFLW trade period will start on Thursday.
