Western Australia's Payarri people celebrate state's 150th native title determination after 30-year journey

In short:

The Federal Court of Australia is due to grant exclusive native title to the Payarri claim group for an area of land 180km north of Laverton in WA's Goldfields.

It will be the 150th native title determination in Western Australia since the Federal Native Title Act started in 1994.

What's next:

The Payarri people will work to establish a ranger group to create employment opportunities and protect country.
