Government unveils Department of Defence overhaul amid delays and cost blowouts

The government has unveiled a sweeping Department of Defence overhaul.

Defence Minister Richard Marles had previously flagged the restructure, declaring in June that "everything was on the table". 

What's next?

Defence currently has a budget of almost $60 billion a year but that figure is set to rise to about $100 billion annually by 2034.
