Authorities say a bushfire, which has destroyed at least one home in the WA regional city of Geraldton, appears to have been deliberately lit.

The fire in the coastal city's north has been burning for more than 24 hours.

The alert level for the bushfire was downgraded to an 'advice' level just after 7:30pm on Monday.
