The body of a bushwalker has been recovered in south-west Tasmania after being discovered by another bushwalker.
Authorities were notified this morning after the man's body was found near Federation Peak shortly before 10am.
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was sent to the scene and the body of the deceased man — since identified as a 39-year-old from New South Wales — was retrieved from the area early this afternoon.
His name has not been released.

Police said the man had been due to return from Federation Peak yesterday and that friends contacted them today after he failed to return as planned.
Police said the death was not being treated as suspicious and a report would be prepared for the coroner.
Federation Peak has a height of 1,225 metres and is described as a "mecca for walkers and climbers everywhere" and is part of the Eastern Arthur Range Traverse.
"Federation Peak is an imposing quartzite mountain with sheer faces and formidable jagged edges," Tasmania's Parks and Wildlife Service states on its website.
