Multiple deli meat products sold in two Australian states have been recalled over fears of possible listeria contamination.
The five recalled products from Götzinger Smallgoods, including sliced ham and roast beef, were possibly sold by retailers in Queensland and New South Wales.
The recalled products are:
- Sliced Silverside 1kg — USE BY (All use by dates up to and including): 20/12/2025
- Sliced Roast Beef 1kg — USE BY (All use by dates up to and including): 13/12/2025
- 4x4 Ham Sliced 1kg — USE BY (All use by dates up to and including): 13/12/2025
- Champagne Ham Sliced 1kg — USE BY (All use by dates up to and including): 17/12/2025
- Provincial Ham Sliced 1kg — USE BY (All use by dates up to and including): 5/12/2025
Food Standards Australia and New Zealand say the products have been recalled for Microbial (Listeria monocytogenes) contamination.
Listeria is a type of bacteria that can cause an illness called listeriosis.
It is caused by eating foods contaminated with listeria, such as unpasteurised dairy products, soft cheeses, raw seafood, cold meats or chicken, and unwashed raw vegetables.
Listeria monocytogenes may cause severe illness in:
- Pregnant women
- Unborn babies
- Newborns
- The elderly
- Immunocompromised individuals.
The general population can also become ill from consuming food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.
Symptoms of listeriosis include fever, nausea, headaches, tiredness and muscle aches and pains.
Customers are advised not to eat the product and instead return it to its place of purchase for a full refund.
Food Standards says anyone concerned about their health should seek medical advice.
