Two dead after separate road accidents in regional New South Wales

NSW Police are investigating both accidents and are looking for witnesses.

A man has died after the vehicle he was driving was hit by a detached trailer in central west New South Wales.

NSW Police say the four-wheel drive the 33-year-old was driving was hit by the runaway trailer on the Newell Highway at Tomingley, south of Narromine, at 6:30pm on Friday.

He was treated by paramedics but died at the scene.

Police say the trailer had detached from a ute travelling in the opposite direction.

The 34-year-old driver of the ute was uninjured and taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

He was later released pending further police investigation.

The highway was closed in both directions for several hours.

Meanwhile, on Friday afternoon a 57-year-old woman died when her car left the road and crashed into bushland at Tambar Springs, 70 kilometres east of Coonabarabran.

Police say the woman was treated by paramedics at the scene of the accident at 5pm on Premer Road but died.

Police are appealing for witnesses of both accidents.
