In short:

Two interstate bushwalkers aged in their 20s were winched to safety on Tuesday after attempts to reach the pair overnight were hampered due to worsening weather conditions.

High winds exceeding 100 kilometres per hour and heavy snowfall led to a triple-0 call from the women on Monday after they were unable to continue their journey.

What's next?

Police say the women are being assessed by paramedics and appear to be in good health.
