In short:

Simeon Boikov has lived in Russia's Sydney consulate since December 2022, when he moved in to avoid arrest for assaulting a pro-Ukraine protester.

He told the ABC he was being "locked in" his room, had been refused visitors and denied permission to hold a christening inside the consulate for his son, who is due to be born next month.

Boikov has vowed to remain in the consulate, saying he would rather die there than return to jail, where he previously served four months for breaching a suppression order.
