Spectators injured when car crashes into crowd at Walcha showground rally
Two people were critically injured and another 11 have been hospitalised after a car crashed into spectators at a motor rally event in regional New South Wales on Saturday night.
Police said emergency services were called to the Walcha Showground about 6:15pm after reports a vehicle competing in the event lost control and crashed into a mobile grandstand.
Spectators rendered first aid to those injured before NSW Ambulance paramedics transported seven men and two women to Walcha District Hospital, four of whom were expected to be transferred to major hospitals throughout the region, including Lismore and Armidale hospitals.

NSW Ambulance said of those injured "nine were of a serious nature, two were of a critical nature".
The most seriously injured was a 54-year-old man who suffered critical injuries and remains in John Hunter Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
Police believe the 27-year-old driver of the car that crashed into the crowd had been involved in an on-track collision before ploughing through the fence.
He remains in hospital where police are hoping to speak with him.
Officers from the specialist Crash Investigation Unit were last night on their way to Walcha to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
