The highest court in the US has upheld Donald Trump's executive order stipulating people only be allowed to choose a male or female gender on their passports.

Mr Trump's order in January had described transgender and non-binary identities as "false" and "corrosive".

The White House applauded the court's order on Thursday, hailing it as a "victory for common sense" .
