Last week, the winner of the Booker Prize, worth 50,000 British pounds ($101,000), was announced.
The international prize, first awarded in 1969, is for books written in English and published in the UK by writers of any nationality.
In the award's history, a number of Australian authors have been featured, including Charlotte Wood who was shortlisted last year, and two-time winner Peter Carey.
