The Federal Opposition leader Sussan Ley has apologised to the Indian Australian community for comments made by Senator Jacinta Nampijinpa Price last week.

The Senator's refusal to apologise for her remarks, or to back Ms Ley as leader has seen her banished to the backbench.

The ABC's David Speers thinks Sussan Ley's leadership of the Liberal Party is safe for now.

But he is expecting Senator Price will continue to be outspoken.
