A newspaper delivery driver who fled after hitting three sleeping people with his car in Brinkin has been sentenced in the Darwin Local Court.

Two of the victims died in hospital following the hit-and-run, while the third sustained serious injuries.

The judge found the collision was "accidental", but that the driver did not help the victims or contact police until some time after the incident.
