In short:

Australians are being urged to take up influenza and COVID-19 vaccination as the winter flu season begins, especially if they are at increased risk of severe illness.

Only a quarter of Australians have received a flu jab so far, with just 15.9 per cent of children under five being immunised.

Parents are also being encouraged to protect their kids against RSV, with new data showing the recently introduced maternal RSV vaccine program has led to a 40 per cent drop in cases compared to this time last year.
